Historic Halifax is predominately a rural county that offers many opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast. Halifax County is also know as “The Gateway to Lake Gaston”. Attractions include the Roanoke River, Roanoke Rapids Lake and Sylvan Heights Bird Park.
Halifax is located in the northeastern part of North Carolina close to Virginia. Interstate 95 dissects the county.
