Durham County Environmental Health has 1 open position for a Registered Environmental Health Specialist in the Onsite Water Protection Section (Position # 40001165). Registered Environmental Health Specialist candidates with current state authorization in onsite wastewater are preferred. Additional state authorizations in private drinking water wells and swimming pools are desirable. Salary is commensurate with experience. Program responsibilities of this position include inspection and enforcement of state and local environmental health laws, rules and regulations that apply to onsite wastewater systems, private drinking water wells, and public swimming pools. Computer use is essential with working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Custom Data Processing and ArcGIS software is highly desirable.
Applicant must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license and a three-year acceptable driving record for operation of a county vehicle. Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.
